Patricia M. Nelson, age 89, of Faribault, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at the Altera Sterling House in Faribault. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. at the Divine Mercy Catholic Church, 139 Mercy Drive, Faribault. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in Faribault. Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory in Faribault on Thursday from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. and on Friday for one hour prior to the services at the church. Patricia M. Hofschulte, the daughter of Steven and Veronica (Zorn) Hofschulte, was born on November 28, 1922 in Goodhue Township, Goodhue County, MN. She graduated from the class of 1940 as Salutatorian from Bethlehem Academy. Patricia married Lloyd Nelson on December 6, 1941 in Paris, TX. After Mom & Dad were married they enjoyed going dancing out at Jewitt''s Point, snowmobiling, playing cards with friends. Lloyd preceded her in death on September 26, 1985. During her career she worked at Farmer Seed & Nursery, Faribault Canning Company, St. Lucas Care Center for 10 years and Minnesota School for the Deaf, retiring in 1987. She was an avid volunteer and member of the St. Lucas Women''s Auxiliary, Faribault Eagles Auxiliary, Divine Mercy CCW, and the Faribault Senior Center. Mom had a great sense of humor and would light up a room with her laughter and smile. She valued time and countless memories with her family especially holiday baking day. She had a passion for life which was demonstrated though many interests such as cooking, baking, canning, gardening, reading mysteries, and playing cards. She would spend hours refinishing furniture to show the natural wood grain. Many people were fortunate to receive a gift made by her hands like a baby blanket to welcome a new birth, an afghan or scarf to keep the Minnesota chill away, or a doily which was an artistic creation treasured by all. Mom left a legacy of generosity and hard work that influences us every day, we will miss her wisdom, patience, and unconditional support as we navigate through life.
