Patricia Ann Born

PATRICIA ANN (SCHWINGHAMMER) (JENSEN) BORN, age 82, of Waseca, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System – Mankato, from her year-long battle with cancer. 

Pat was born on February 10, 1942, in St. Cloud. She was the oldest of ten children born to Walter and Leona (Hiemenz) Schwinghammer. She attended a small country school for elementary school, then graduated from Belgrade High School. Following school, she married Ronald Jensen on August 5, 1961, who preceded her in death in October of 1994 after 33 years of marriage. She was a devoted military wife and mother for 23 years, they then moved to Waseca, MN and made their home. She later met Stanley Born of Waseca whom she married on November 28, 1998, they were married for almost 5 years, she cared for him until he lost his battle with cancer in 2003. Patricia was a trained medical aide throughout her life and worked at Lakeshore Inn until her retirement then volunteered there until her health no longer allowed her to. She enjoyed bowling, traveling, ceramics, puzzles, piano and reading.  Her biggest joy in life was spending time with her family.  She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Meals on Wheels, Sacred Heart Social Concerns, and was a chair for Relay for Life for many years. She was a long-time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. 

She is survived by her mother, Leona Schwinghammer; children, Tom (Megan) Jensen, Annette (Peter) Zimmerman, Tim Jensen, Deb (Mike) Orchard, Jeff (Laura) Jensen; stepchildren, Rodney (Lori) Born, Charlotte (Mark) McCabe, Gary Born (Donnie), Janice Born (Marci); 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; five brothers, and one sister. She is preceded in death by her father, Walter; first husband, Ronald; second husband, Stanley; sisters, Judy Potter, and Rosie Houk; and brother Allen Schwinghammer. 

Mass of Christian Burial will be held, Saturday, June 1, 2024, at 11:30 AM, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca with Fr. Glenn Frerichs as celebrant. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM – 11:30 AM at the church prior to mass. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca. In Lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Sacred Heart Endowment Fund.
