Norman Frank Berndt

NORMAN FRANK BERNDT, age 74, of Waseca died unexpectedly on Friday, January 22, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born on May 17, 1946 in Faribault to Herman and Esther (Gehrke) Berndt. He attended country school. In 1980, Norman was united in marriage to Colleen Schlie, together they had two sons and were later divorced. On February 19, 1994, Norman was united in marriage to Nancy (Reinhold) Fliflet. Norman and Nancy made their home in Waseca with their children. He started working at Morton Buildings for a number a years as well as Owatonna Manufacturing before starting a 24 year career at Brown Printing in Waseca. He enjoyed westerns, gambling, fishing, hunting and cherished the time he spent with his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.

Norman is survived by his loving wife of 26 years, Nancy; children: Aaron (Maike Thomas) Berndt of St. Peter, Lucas (Aleesha Steiger) Berndt of Waltham, David (Jennifer) Fliflet of Branson, MO, Deb (Erik) McAlister of Millersburg, IN and Joe (Amanda Tesch) Fliflet of Waseca; twelve grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Nancy) Berndt of Waterville; sisters: Delores (Leonard) Wolfe of St. Peter, Lorraine Lyons of Waterville, Gladys (Stan) Merritt of Morristown, Lucille (Don) Roemhildt of Eagan; sister-in-law: Janet Berndt of Owatonna and Diane Berndt of Waterville; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by his parents: Herman and Esther; brothers: Edward and Harold; brother-in-law, John Lyons.

A public visitation will be from 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM on Friday, January 29, 2021 with a private family service to follow all at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca.
