Norma Deanna Cook

NORMA DEANNA COOK, age 87 of Waseca, died in the early morning of Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester.

Norma was born on April 11, 1937, in Artesian, South Dakota to parents Forrest Loren Francis and Anna Marie Miller. She attended Central High School in Madison, South Dakota. On June 5, 1955, Norma was married to LeRoy James Cook in Madison, and together they raised four daughters. Once Norma and LeRoy relocated to Waseca she was employed at the E.F. Johnson Company, and later at Itron where she was a Senior Assembler for over fourteen years. Norma was very involved as a long-time member of First Congregational Church in Waseca, and she also volunteered her time at the Mayo Clinic Health System Clinic in Waseca. She loved birds of all kinds and enjoyed gardening, reading, embroidering, and had recently taken up painting. She also enjoyed visiting the casino with her family and sitting out on the deck in the evening listening to music. At every chance, regardless of the occasion, her family fondly remembers her repeated parting advice – “Now you be careful”.

Norma is survived by three daughters, Cindy (LeRoy) Miller of Waseca, Debra (Marcus) Vandenbosch of St. Paul, and Sherry (Bob) Anderson of Victoria; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Charles “Chuck” (Shirley) Francis of Sioux Falls, SD. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Lotty; a brother, Bob; a brother-in-law, Ron; a son-in-law, Fred; and a granddaughter-in-law, Janna.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 28, 2024 at First Congregational Church in Waseca, with Rev. Ken Andrs officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the church. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
