Nelmer C. Morsching
NELMER C. MORSCHING, age 93 of rural Waterville, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 in the same home where he was born and raised.
Born at his parents home in Le Sueur County on April 25, 1926, Nelmer was the son of Henry and Emma (Berndt) Morsching. He attended St. Peters "Bell" Parochial school as a young man. He served in the Army during World War II, beginning as an infantryman and later as Military Police while he was stationed in Japan. Nelmer married Lorraine Schwichtenberg at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville on October 8, 1949. They made their life together and raised their family in Nelmers childhood home. Over the years Nelmer worked as a salesman for Moormans while farming at the same time, he later worked road construction for C.S. Mccrossan and Barton before moving on to work for Fanning Homes in Waterville. Near the end of his working days, Nelmer raised mink and quickly became "Mr. Bullhead" by selling bullheads and smoked carp throughout the Midwest. He was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville and was a lifetime member of the Elysian American Legion Post 311 and the Waseca VFW. As a younger man Nelmer enjoyed caring for his coon hounds and his springers, and hunting ducks and pheasants. Throughout his life he continued to love fishing and deer hunting.
Nelmer is survived by four children, Darrel Morsching of Waterville, Anita (Dan) Orr of Elysian, Lee (Jeannie) Morsching of Waterville, and Richard (Wanda) Morsching of Waterville; five grandchildren, Ann (Steve) Olson, Krystal Morsching and her boyfriend Karl, James Morsching, Patrick Morsching and his girlfriend Hanah, Tanner (Liz) Morsching, Spencer Morsching and his girlfriend Megan, and Hunter Morsching and his girlfriend Maddy, and seven great-grandchildren, Parker, Erik, Elizabeth, Alaina, and Braxton. He will also be remembered by one brother, Sylvester (Carole) Morsching of Elysian; two sisters-in-law, ReLou Schwichtenberg and Joanne Schwichtenberg; and one brother-in-law, Lowell Hetletvedt. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Melvin Morsching; and several siblings-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, August 17, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until the time of the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will take place at St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Cemetery in Le Sueur County.
