Nancy Lee Thomas

NANCY LEE THOMAS, age 69 of Waseca, passed away at her home on the evening of Wednesday, February 23, 2022 surrounded by her family.

Born at the Winnebago Community Hospital on November 2, 1952, Nancy was the daughter of Lee and Marian (Scramlin) Cox. She graduated from Amboy Good Thunder High School before continuing her education at Mankato State College. On June 23, 1973 she was married to Daniel Thomas at the Amboy United Methodist Church. She worked for many years at the E.F. Johnson Company in Waseca and also for the Waseca Community School District. She served on the board of directors for Hansel & Gretel Preschool, the Dance Conservatory of Southern Minnesota, the Waseca Band Boosters, and was the superintendent of Sunday School at Faith United Methodist Church, where she was a long-time member. She enjoyed attending the Minnesota State Fair, knitting, crocheting, crafts, playing cards, attending theater productions, cooking, and baking – especially baking Christmas cookies and lefse with friends; and spending time and spoiling her grandson.

Nancy is survived by her husband, Daniel of Waseca; two daughters, Jennifer Thomas of Mankato and Sarah Thomas of Mankato; one grandson, Collin; one sister, Linda Karow of Woodbury; an aunt, Betty Cox of Mankato; brothers and sisters in law, John & Patty Thomas and Tim Crosby; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all of her grandparents; both of her parents; both of her parents in law; and a sister in law.

Visitation will be held from 4:00 until 7:00PM on Tuesday, March 1, 2022 at the third street chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00PM on Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, with Rev. Carolyn Doering officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later date.

Memorial gifts are preferred and may be directed to the Andreas Cancer Center with Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato and the Mayo Clinic Hospice Team. Nancy’s family would like to thank the staff at the Andreas Cancer Center and the Mayo Hospice Team for the excellent care they provided.
