Nadine Mary Wilmes

NADINE MARY (WEEDMAN) WILMES, age 88, of Janesville passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.

Born on December 3, 1935 in Lamberton, she was the daughter of Jesse and Bertha (Enger) Weedman. She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1953. She met Roger Wilmes shortly after high school and the two were united in marriage on February 8, 1955 at St. Peter and Paul’s Catholic Church in Mankato. The two had three children, Charles, Beverly, and Nancy, six grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. 

Nadine was the most kind and servant soul shown through her work at JWP and Park Road Plaza, and her volunteerism at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospice and at the Janesville Nursing Home. She also provided care to her husband for over ten years as he battled illness. She touched so many lives and everyone she met was greeted with a gentle smile and soft hello. Nadine was the “hostess with the mostess”. She never let anyone go hungry, welcomed any and all to her home, and loved so hard. She enjoyed playing cards and games, sewing, baking, decorating cakes, finding new recipes, and most of all spending time with her family. She will be missed dearly, and she will live on through all us and the memories and love we shared with her. 

Nadine is survived by her children, Charles (Jane) Wilmes of Janesville, Beverly Byer of Waseca, Nancy (Jim) Sprengeler of Janesville; six grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Wilmes; parents, Jesse and Bertha Weedman; son-in-law, David Byer; and her brothers and sisters. 

A visitation will be held from 4 -7 PM on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 2, 2024 at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Cemetery.
