Gordon E. Miller

GORDON EDWARD MILLER , age 93 of Waterville, formerly of Kilkenny died on Friday, March 15, 2013 at the Waterville Good Samaritan Center.

Born on August 21, 1919 on the family farm in Kilkenny Township, Le Sueur County, Minnesota he was the son of Henry and Mary (Hiller) Miller.  He married Evangeline Marie Stangler on June 30, 1941.  Gordon entered the U.S. Army Air Corps in September of 1942.  He was stationed in Florida and Mississippi.  Gordon was honorably discharged in 1945 and they returned to Kilkenny where they built their home on the family farm.  He farmed and also did livestock trucking with his brother Arnold for 33 years.  After retiring, Gordon and Vangie spent winters in Apache Junction, AZ for 20 years.  In his retirement, Gordon also worked for Merle Barker Construction.  He enjoyed mowing the lawn, sports, playing cards and square dancing.  He was a member of St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny and the Knights of Columbus in Waterville.  Gordon was also a 50+ year member of the Kilkenny American Legion.

He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Vangie of Waterville; three children, Jerry and Linda Miller of Kilkenny, Lynn and Margo Miller of Longmont, CO, and Karen and Gene Morris of Waterville; five grandchildren, Kris Miller, Jerry Miller, Amy (Luke) Gohlike, Chad (Amy) Miller and Jeff Morris; and five great grandchildren, Aiden and Matthew Miller, Gavin Gohlike, and Addy and Ike Miller.  He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, and two brothers.

Visitation will be held at the Prosch-Dennis Funeral Home in Waterville on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 from 4-7 PM and continue on Wednesday, one hour before services at the church.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at 10:30 AM at St. Canice Catholic Church in Kilkenny.  Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kilkenny.
