Mildred "Millie" June Suemnick

Mildred June (Halle) Suemnick, died on Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2020, at Lake Shore Inn in Waseca, Minnesota. She was 105 years old.

She was born June 5, 1915, in Woodville Township, Waseca County, to Robert and Erma (Wood) Halle. Millie attended rural schools and met Arthur Suemnick in 1932 at age 17. Four years later they were married on Oct. 28, 1937, at the First Congregational Church, Waseca. Rev. Green officiated.

During the early years of her marriage Millie was a homemaker who raised three children while Art farmed. To help make ends meet she did seasonal work with Birds Eye Foods, sewed for local businesses and craft fairs, and was self-employed as a housekeeper for several Waseca County families. She was a lifetime member of both the First Congregational Church and the Ladies Friendly Group.

Her devotion was first to God and then to her husband and children. She lovingly welcomed every new family member and treasured each relationship. Her lawn showed the care she gave to her rose gardens where she enjoyed watching birds at the feeders. In retirement Millie and Art snowmobiled together and when it became too rigorous, they wintered in Texas. After Art’s death she moved first to Maple Terrace in 2002, and then to Lake Shore Inn in 2010, where she received excellent care and love. Some of her favorite things were creamed coffee, photography, reading the newspaper, traveling, Pizza Ranch chicken, and having a weekly hair appointment with her daughter.

Mrs. Suemnick is survived by three children, Roger (Toni) of Butte Montana, Judy (Lynn) Mokoff of Waseca and Robert Suemnick (fiancée, Sheila Steffen) of Hackensack Minnesota; seven grandchildren, fourteen great grandchildren, and five great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her sister Phyllis (Halle) Suemnick and her brother Wayne Halle, their spouses, and a niece, Dawn Halle.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, 1:00 pm, at the First Congregational Church, Waseca, with Pastors Todd and Katie Corrigan (Great Granddaughter) officiating. Visitation will be one hour before services at the church. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
