Milan Prechel
MILAN IVER PRECHEL, age 93 of Waseca, died on Monday, November 5, 2018 at the Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.
Born on June 17, 1925 in Woodville Township, Waseca County, Milan was the son of Wilfred and Alfrieda (Priebe) Prechel. Growing up he attended rural Waseca school #24 before going on to graduate from Waseca High School in 1943. On November 14, 1948 Milan married Mary Louise Eaton at the United Methodist Church in Waseca. Also in 1948 he became the first Waseca draftee to be called to the military under the Selective Service. He served in the United States Army Reserve until his honorable discharge as a Staff Sergeant in 1954. Milan and Mary continued to live and work the family farm until it passed to the next generation. He enjoyed fishing and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church for much of his life.
Milan is survived by four children, Wayne (Linda) Prechel of Janesville, Keith (Ronda) Prechel of Faribault, Jean (Daniel) Page of Pemberton, and Glen (Sandra) Prechel of Waseca; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; and one brother, Vernon (Sandra) Prechel of Waseca. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.
Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, November 9, 2018 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waseca, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred. Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, November 10, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Giles Zimmer officiating. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
