MICHELE ANN SANDBERG, age 78 of Janesville died on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Bridgewater in Janesville.

 

Born on November 28, 1945 in Minneapolis, Minnesota she was the daughter of Arnold and Florence (Ficklin) Turk. She graduated from Edina Morningside High School in 1963 and went on to attend Minneapolis Business College. Michele worked as an IBM keypunch operator at World Wide Co. from 1963 until 1966.  She married James Sandberg on June 11, 1966 at Annunciation Catholic Church in Minneapolis. Following their marriage, they moved to Janesville where Michele worked for Hubbard Milling in Mankato. She later worked for the Arnoldt Funeral Home and Furniture Store in Janesville.  Michele also did adult and child foster care. Following her husband’s death in 1990, Michele returned to school and graduated from South Central Technical College in 1993. She then worked for Elm Homes in Waseca and in 1996 began her House of Care. Michele retired in 2002 due to health issues.

 

She is survived by her brother, Doug (Kristine) Turk; nephew, Doug (Blaine) Turk Jr.; niece, Heather (Ross) McGruder; great-nieces and nephews, Oliver, Mason, and Teagan.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

 

A special thank you to the Lynch and Quast families for adopting Michele into their family. Thank you to the Bridgewater staff for their loving care over the years.

 

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, January 15, 2024 at 11:00 AM at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Janesville.  Burial will follow at St. Ann’s Cemetery in Janesville.   Visitation will be held on Monday, one hour before services at the church.
