MICHAEL CHARLES COY, age 71 of rural New Richland, died at his home with his family by his side on the morning of Wednesday, March 20, 2024.
Mike was born in Wells on February 28, 1953, to parents Clifford and Sue (Weaver) Coy. He graduated from high school in Waldorf before continuing his education at Albert Lea Vo-Tech where he studied diesel mechanics. He worked various jobs over the years including construction, Bird’s Eye Foods, Brown Printing, and as a Diesel Mechanic. He also had a lifelong great love for farming. On June 23, 1984 Mike was married to Cynthia Rene Siems at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waseca. His first priority was always his wife, children, and grandchildren, who knew him as “the tickle monster”. He loved all things John Deere, hobby farming, cars, motorcycles, snowmobiles, and horses. During his quiet times he liked John Wayne movies, music, musicals, and reading Louis L’Amour novels.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cynthia of rural New Richland; children Sierra (John Bently) Coy of Mankato, Clifford (Rachel) Coy of Lake Crystal, and Erin Coy of Waseca; nine grandchildren, Anwyn, Kannon, Isabel, Skyler, Cillian, Alistair, Eston, Lillian, and Gabriel; and three siblings, Pam Coy, Kim Born, and Dan Coy. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; a brother, Jeff Coy; and a sister, Kathy Frantum.
Mike’s family will host a memorial service at the Ellendale United Methodist Church at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024. They will greet friends for one hour before the service at the church. Interment services will be held in the afternoon on June 23, 2024. In lieu of flowers, the Coy family would like individuals to donate to the Feeding Our Communities Partners (FOCP) non-profit organization. Their mission is to engage our community in solving youth hunger. You can help feed local kids by submitting a donation of FOCP at https://www.feedingourcommunitiespartners.org/donate.html". Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Services in Waseca is assisting Mike’s family with their arrangements. dsofuneral.com
