Maxine Fern Burmeister

MAXINE FERN BURMEISTER, age 94, formerly of Waseca, died on Sunday, August 21, 2022 in Golden Valley.

Born on December 27, 1927, in Humboldt, Iowa to Melvin and Fern (Fevold) Lind. Maxine grew up in Badger, Iowa were she was baptized, confirmed, and married at Badger Lutheran Church. Maxine graduated from Fort Dodge High School. On October 14, 1951, Maxine was united in marriage to Merlyn Burmeister. They lived in Waukee, Iowa before moving to Waseca in 1977. Maxine and Merlyn shared 57 years of marriage before Merlyn passed away on July 26, 2009.

Maxine’s faith and family were the foundation of her life. She was most recently a member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church in Plymouth. She enjoyed tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, canning and baking, and any time that was spent with her family.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Candace (Tony) Nelson and their son, Bridger Nelson; daughter-in-law, Brenda Burmeister and her daughter, Ashley (Chase) Ledbetter, three great grandchildren; sister, Eleanor Heitner; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; two son’s: William and Timothy Burmeister; brother, Harold (Helen) Lind; sister, Lorraine (Robert) Skinner; and her brother-in-law, August Heitner.

A private family graveside service was held at Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
