Maureen Rose Eustice was born on August 29, 1955 to Vincent and Irene (Morgan) Kahnke in Waseca. She was baptized and confirmed at Church of the Sacred Heart in Waseca. She also attended grade school at Sacred Heart Catholic School, later graduating from Waseca Public School with the class of 1973. She continued her education in Mankato and shortly after opened her own beauty salon in Bricelyn, which she owned and operated for over 10 years. Maureen went back to school at Rasmussen College in Mankato for Accounting. She worked at the Waseca Medical Center for many years as an accounting supervisor and was currently working for ADM in Mankato in the accounting department. She was finishing her Bachelors Degree in Accounting.
On July 17, 1999, Maureen was united in marriage to Thomas Eustice on a hot but windy day on the Prairie Ridge Golf Course in Janesville. They lived the past 17 years in Janesville until recently building a home in Mankato. Maureen and Thomas did everything together, from numerous trips throughout the country, a 10 day vacation to Italy where they went on many wine tours, to their weekly trip to the movies. They enjoyed their yearly trip to Florida with their granddaughter, Sophie. Maureen was notorious for spoiling all of her grandchildren. When the weather would get too cold Maureen and Thomas would travel to warmer parts of the country just to golf. Her love for Thomas was evident in her daily life. While Thomas was stationed in Iraq, Maureen made 56 quilts for the soldiers in Thomass unit and when he was injured overseas, she quit her job to move near him. She was always helping others. Maureen was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She enjoyed tending to her huge flower and vegetable gardens. Maureen had a love for her dogs, birds and guinea pigs, she even enjoyed the rabbits in the back yard. She was a great cook! Her family fondly remembers her famous apple crisp and blueberry cheesecake. Maureen truly cherished the time she spent with her loving husband, children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
Maureen is survived by her loving husband of 18 years, Thomas of Mankato; her two daughters: Talia (Jeremy) Larson of Lafayette and Teah (Daniel) Malecha of Lonsdale; her three grandchildren: Sophi Sylvara, Paisly Larson and Masen Malecha; her mom, Irene Kahnke of Waseca; siblings: Colleen (Marty) Possehl of Claremont, Mike (Marilyn) Kahnke of Waseca, Tim (Lori) Kahnke of Waseca, Bridget (Kevin) Everhart of Denver, CO, and Margaret (Paul) Rea of Irvine, CA; 8 sisters and brothers-in-law: Paula (Bob) Beelow of Janesville, Pat (Karla) Eustice of St. Cloud, Joe (Renee) Eustice of Ortonville, Ann (John) Brygider of Sequim, WA, Sue (Tim) Anderson of Walker, Bernard (Callie) Eustice of Janesville, David (Angie) Eustice of SC, and Willie (Tracy) Eustice of Mankato; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
