SHIRLEY ANN MARZAHN , age 77 of Waterville, died on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.

Born at her family’s home in O’Brien County, Iowa, Shirley was the daughter of Henry and Delia (DeZeeuw) VanZee.  She attended country school before graduating from St. Peter High School.  On December 19, 1953, Shirley married Robert Marzahn at the First Presbyterian Church in Kasota.  She was a farmer’s wife, mother, homemaker, and an excellent cook.  She was a long-time member at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waterville where served on several different committees over the years.  She also drove school bus for Waterville Schools.  Shirley enjoyed sewing, reading, ceramics, needle work, crocheting, and caring for her beloved dogs.  She was a member of her church’s women’s group and the county extension group.

Shirley is survived by her husband Robert, of Waterville; five children, Gail (Pat) Caven of Amboy, Debbie (Roger) Lamont of Waterville, Bruce (Teresa) Marzahn of Waterville, Suzanne (Jeff) Johnson of Waseca, and Jerry (Karen) Marzahn of Waterville; fifteen grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one brother, Rodney (Barb) VanZee of St. Peter; and one sister, Gloria VanZee of San Diego, CA.  She was preceded in death by both of her parents; and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 11, 2013 at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Waterville, with Rev. Cindy Kennedy officiating.  Visitation will be held from 12:00 PM until the time of the service at the church.  Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
