MARY LOUISE (OSKEY) SCHNEPF, age 83, of rural Janesville, died on Sunday, February 4, 2024 in Mankato with her family and friends by her side.
Born on January 5, 1941, in Milaca, Minnesota, Mary was the daughter of Lloyd and Margaret (Hayes) Oskey. She attended school in Milaca, and completed her schooling at Mankato High School. She moved to Waseca where she met her future husband, Richard Schnepf. They were united in marriage on June 6, 1959 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Together they made their home on the Schnepf family farm where they raised their five children.
Mary dedicated her life to raising her children. She was a pillar in the Sprintways International Raceway operations, which was founded by Mary and her husband. Mary was the ultimate homemaker, and everyone looked forward to her home-cooked meals. Once her children graduated and left the house, Mary occupied her time with tutoring and volunteering as a guardian ad litem. Mary’s pride and joy were her grandchildren. Her home was a second home to all her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling around the world, but also loved the view from her home. She would enjoy watching the wildlife with her family from her windows. She also enjoyed reading, shopping and gardening. She was involved with Dorcas Society, Ladies Aid at Trinity Lutheran, and Book Club. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. She was a wonderful wife, mom, grandma, and friend who will be dearly missed.
Mary is survived by her children, Bradley (Kimberly Christenson) Schnepf of Waseca, Dana (Kathleen) Schnepf of North Mankato, Trent Schnepf of Colorado Springs, CO, and Melanie (Lee) Born of Janesville; grandchildren, Ben (Amanda Danberry) Schnepf, Brandon (Chelsea) Schnepf, Jessica (Joshua Browne) Born, Kira (Krystal) Born, Jeremy (Caroline) James, Cody (Brandi) Schnepf, Heather (Brent) Smisek and Rita Osborne; six great grandchildren; siblings, Doug (Deanna Winegar) Oskey of Waseca, Katherine (Dean) Hagen of North Mankato, Dale (Virginia “Ginny”) Oskey of Minnetonka, Eileen (Richard “Rick”) Wood of Waseca; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Richard Schnepf; parents, Lloyd Oskey and Margaret Lindly; son, Corey Schnepf; brother, Donald “Donny” Oskey.
Memorial service will be 11:00 AM on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Interment will be in St. John Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township, Waseca County. Visitation will be for one and a half hours prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
