Mary Mildred Benton

MARY MILDRED BENTON, age 89, of Mankato, died on Friday, May 26, 2023, at Brookdale Senior Living in Mankato.

Born on February 17, 1934, in Rockhill, SC, she was the daughter of LeRoy and Florence (Smith) Paul. Mary grew up in South Carolina where she received her education. On October 18, 1961, Mary was united in marriage to Robert Owen Benton. Together they lived in various communities but mainly in the Minnesota and South Carolina area. She enjoyed gardening, Cooking, and traveling. Mary cherished the time she spent with her family, especially during the holidays, decorating her entire house for the occasion. She will be dearly missed.

Mary is survived by her children: James (Susan) Benton of Bessemer City, North Carolina, and Robert L. Benton of Lake Crystal; 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Clifton R. Benton Sr.; great grandson, Liam Cadenhead; and six siblings.

Memorial Service will be 2:00 PM on Friday, June 2, 2023, at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the funeral chapel on Friday.
