Mary "Dolly" Melchert, age 71, formerly of Morristown, died peacefully Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Mankato.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Larry Griffin, officiant. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. 11:00 a.m. at the Church. Private family interment will be held at the Concordia Cemetery in North Morristown.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Palliative Care at the Mayo Clinic Health Systems of Mankato, 1025 Marsh St., Mankato, MN 56001.
Dolly, the daughter of George and Marjorie (Thompson) Schablitsky, was born on March 10, 1945 in Faribault. She graduated from Faribault Senior High School in 1964.
On October 22, 1966, Dolly married Reinhardt "Reiny" Melchert. They lived in Morristown, MN until 1987 when they relocated to Alexandria, MN. Dolly and Reiny returned to the Faribault area in the late 1990s. Throughout the years, Dollys primary focus was on raising her three children. Her work outside the home extended into healthcare as a nursing assistant and in retail.
In her free time, Dolly enjoyed reading books, participating in retail therapy (shopping), square dancing, bowling, taking road trips and dining at her favorite restaurants.
Dolly made friends with everyone she met! Her support for others and family, love, sense of humor, and thoughtfulness were always present.
She will be remembered for her smile, classy apparel, pride in her family, and handling all of lifes curve balls with grace and humor.
Dolly is survived by her children, Dave (Kari) Melchert of Janesville, MN; Jeanice (Dan) Starry of Stillwater, MN; and Ann (Ryan) Meverden of Redmond, WA; nine grandchildren, Brandon Melchert, Sarah Kopischke, Ryan Melchert, Emily Kopischke, Bethany Starry, Matt Kopischke, Megan Starry, and Olivia and Natalie Meverden; brother, Jim (Carmen) Schablitsky; sisters, Sharon (Darrell) Morgan and Carol (Chris) Hillebrand; sister-in-law, Phyllis Brown; with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Dolly was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Reiny; infant son, Gary; Parents, George Schablitsky, Marjorie (Thompson) Kadlec; Step-Father, Rudolph Kadlec, Sr.; Brothers, Paul (Penny) Schablitsky, Jerry Schablitsky and Rudy Kadlec, Jr. and Brothers-in-law; Milton Melchert, Vernon Gatz, and Gene Brown.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to family, friends, and her healthcare providers throughout the years.
