Mary D. Cords October 20, 1945 - December 4, 2014

Mary Darlene Cords, age 69, of Janesville died on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at the Janesville Nursing Home following an extended illness.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 9, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Pastor Larry Griffin officiating. Interment will be held at the Janesville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, December 8, 2014 from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Arnoldt- McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville and for one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Mayo Hospice of Mankato or to the Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance (MOCA).

Mary Darlene, daughter of Clarence and Margaret (Pace) Croes, was born on October 20, 1945 in Le Center, MN. She was diagnosed with polio at an early age. She attended and graduated from Le Center High School. In 1963, she was united in marriage to Dale Cords, who passed away in 2002. She worked at Cotter & Company doing office work, EF Johnson, and MICO. On November 28, 2005, she was united in marriage to Robert Cords in Janesville. She was active in the Janesville High School Booster Club and volunteered for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed traveling with her family, as well as gardening, refinishing furniture, bowling, and she loved babysitting her grandchildren. Mary loved spending time with her family, as she was always the host of family gatherings.

Mary is survived by her husband, Robert Cords of Janesville; children, Alan (Jackie) Cords of Janesville, Wayne (Kelly) Cords of Janesville, and Molly Gacula of Clewiston, FL; her step-children, Jeff (Amy Scheller) Cords of Minneapolis, Melissa (John) Keuning of Coon Rapids, and Christopher (Lindsey) Cords of Minneapolis; grandchildren, Zachary, Bailey, Brielle, Lacey, Maggie, Alexa, Hunter, Duncan, McKenzie, Anna, Ira, and Isaiah; sisters, Peggy Malecha of AZ, Katie Hemme of Jasper, MN, and Lynne Croes of Maplewood, MN;

brother-in-law, George Sautter of Le Center; and by many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Dale Cords; son Chuck Cords; sister, Pat Sautter; and by her infant brother, Thomas.
