MARTHA “JANE” THOMAS, age 70 of Waterville, passed away at Traditions of Waterville on the morning of Wednesday, March 30, 2022.
Born in Chicago, IL on November 15, 1951, Jane was the daughter of Robert and Lucile (Andersen) Schlueter. As her family moved around, she attended several schools before graduating from Waterville High School with the class of 1969. Following her schooling, she was married to John Eastwood. They had three children together before their divorce. In 1982 Jane was married to Jeffrey Thomas and they made their home together in Waterville. She was employed as a Human Services Technician at Hope Residence for many years, at the nursing home in Faribault, and she worked at Fleet Farm until retiring in 2001. Jane was a quick-witted woman who loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed camping, scrapbooking, reading, dancing, shopping, and flower gardening. She was a huge fan of country music and repeatedly attended the WinStock Music Festival. Over the years she also personally created thousands of cooling neck wraps for military personnel serving overseas. She was a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.
Jane is survived by her husband, Jeff of Waterville; two daughters, Stacy (John) Weitzel of Northwood, IA, and Sabrina (Jeff) Frodl of Waterville; eight grandchildren, Mateah Eastwood (Grant Fremont) of Albert Lea, Carsen Kendall of Waseca, Gage (Cayla) Eastwood of Elysian, Micheal Ungs of Waterville, Jenna Weitzel of Manly, IA, McKenzee Eastwood of Waterville, Dalton Weitzel of Northwood, IA, and Owen Frodl of Waterville; six great-grandchildren; and six siblings, Bill Schlueter of Waterville, Gail (Dave) Anderson of McGregor, Robert Schlueter of Morristown, Randy (Jill) Schlueter of Waterville, Shelly (Gary) Appel of New Franklin, MO, and Toni Ahlman of Morristown; and many nieces; nephews; and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Scott Eastwood; one sister, Debbie Schlueter; and two sisters-in-law, Gerri and Mickey Schlueter.
Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, April 3, 2022 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Monday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating.
