MARLOW LOUIS ROESSLER, age 84 of Elysian, passed away at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester on Thursday, December 2, 2021, as a result of injuries he sustained in a fall on Wednesday.
Born in Waseca on June 15, 1937, Marlow was the son of Louis Elmer and Luella Marie (Kapaun) Roessler. He began his education at a country school outside of Elysian before finishing elementary school in Elysian. He graduated from high school in Waterville with the class of 1955. On May 17, 1960, Marlow was united in marriage to Carolyn Ballman at St. Paul Lutheran Church German Lake. Together they made their home on Marlow’s family farm near Elysian and had two daughters. Although Marlow never lived more than a mile and a half from where he grew up, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and had visited Hawaii, Alaska, New York, other points around New England, Canada, and wintered for many years in Orange Beach, Alabama. He had previously served on the Elysian Creamery Board and with the Shipping Association. During his retirement years, he worked for the Dill Company in Janesville and later at Singing Hills Girl Scout Camp in Waterville. Marlow was always a happy, talkative man, and he enjoyed fishing, relaxing on the deck at the lake, going for Wednesday morning coffee with friends, and he was incredibly proud of his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Marlow is survived by his wife, Carolyn of Elysian; two daughters, Nancy Roessler of St. Peter and Shari (Jim) Germscheid of Maple Grove; five grandchildren, Rachel Beran, Megan Beran, Terril Germscheid, J.J. (Teran) Germscheid, and Jordan Germscheid; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A public visitation will be held from 4-7pm on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Waterville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services. In an effort to protect our community, Marlow’s family requests that masks be worn and appropriate social distancing guidelines are followed.
A semi-private funeral service will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, December 7, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Church German Lake. Close family will gather inside the church, and extended family and other friends may attend by parking outside the church and listening to the short-range radio broadcast of the service.
The public will then be invited to join in the interment service at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian and the luncheon to follow in the social hall at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Elysian.
