Marlene Mae Schlie, 77 year old resident of Janesville, died peacefully on Friday evening, June 30, 2017 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Mankato.
Funeral Service will be 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville with Rev. Larry Griffin and Rev. Paul Muther, officiating. Interment will be in St. Johns Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Iosco Township. Visitation will be from 4:00 7:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Discipling Center and will continue for one hour before the service in the church. In lieu of flowers memorials preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church and School or the Janesville Fire Department.

Marlene Mae Schlie was born on October 7, 1939 in Janesville to Emil and Lily (Volkmann) Schlie. She was a 1957 graduate of Janesville High School. Following her education, Marlene moved to Mankato where she worked for Midtech. She later moved back into the home where she grew up and worked at E.F. Johnson and later for Midwest Electric, retiring in 2001, Marlene received her wish, as she continued to live in the home she was born and raised, throughout her life.
Marlene was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville where she was active in various church organizations. She had a love for animals especially her cats. Marlene enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins on her television. Daily she would spend her mornings completing the Sudoku and word search puzzles from the newspaper. Marlene always had time to help her family, watching her great nieces and nephews on numerous occasions. She will always be remembered for her generosity, sense of humor and hospitality. Above all she had a deep love for her family.
Marlene is survived by her sister-in-law, Alice Schlie of Janesville; five nieces and nephews: Denise Sellner of New Ulm, Donita (Jamie) Hagen of Janesville, Wade (Roleen) Schlie of Sleepy Eye, Brenda (Glenn) McKeon of Rochester, Mark (Rhonda) Schlie of Janesville; 8 great nieces and nephews; 18 great great nieces and nephews; and many special cousins other relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Marvin and Lawrence; and nephew-in-law, Wilbert Sellner.
