Marlene Asbe November 11, 1931 - October 31, 2009

Marlene F. Asbe, age 77, formerly of Faribault, died Saturday, October 31, 2009 at the Richfield Health Center in Richfield. Private family services will be held on Friday, November 6, 2009. Interment will be held at the Meadow Ridge Memorial Park in Faribault. Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault. Marlene Faye Asbe, the daughter of James Edward and Stella (Durdall) Asbe, was born on November 24, 1931 in Owatonna, MN. When Marlene was 17 years old she became a member of the Shipstad and Johnson Ice Follies and performed with them for the next three years. During this time she met her husband, J. Wendell Hoop and they were united in marriage on June 28, 1952 at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault. They later divorced. Marlene worked at various jobs including Control Data, the Cheese Cave, the Faribault Regional Center and home health care. She was a devoted mother and grandmother. She is survived by three children, Karen (Steve) Dolan of Edina, MN, Doug Hoop of Apple Valley, MN and J. Bradley Hoop of Pittsburgh, PA; by five grandchildren; by two great grandchildren and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents.
