Marlene A. Bjelde
MARLENE ANN BJELDE, age 80 of Waterville was reunited with her husband Roger in heaven on Saturday, May 13, 2017 where they will dance again forever.
Born on November 5, 1936 in Janesville, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Alwin and Doris (Ewert) Manthey. She was baptized on the family farmstead by Rev. Otto Krause and was confirmed in May of 1950 at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Waseca. Marlene attended Waseca High School and graduated in 1954. She then attended Methodist Kahler School of Nursing in Rochester and worked in surgery at Rochester Methodist Hospital. Marlene married Oscar Roger Bjelde on November 17, 1956 at St. John Lutheran Church in Waseca. She then worked for Doctors Gallagher and Davis in Waseca for many years and the Harmony Medical Clinic. Marlene and Roger moved to Waterville and were the owners of Rogers Bar on 3rd Street.
Marlene was an avid bowler for many years, bowling in 15 national tournaments. She was also a member of the Waterville Bowling Hall of Fame. She enjoyed spending time with her family. Her extended family were the members of North Waseca Lutheran Church who were a great support in a time of need. Marlene was a long time member of the church and cared for the altar for over 20 years. Her other hobbies were her yard, flowers, playing cards and visiting casinos. Marlene was an excellent cook and was known for her dill pickles which she loved to share with the Waterville Fire Department.
She is survived by one daughter, Cynthia (Mike) Hamrock of Waseca; two grandchildren, Patrick (Beth) Anderson of Waterville and their children, Danica, Justine and Charlotte who is due any day and Arica (Tim) Burke of Janesville and their children, Crue and Dekker. She is also survived by one step-brother, Joseph Amberg of San Antonio, TX; sister-in-law, Ardith Peterson of Portland, OR; two nephews, David and Brian Peterson; and three sisters by choice, Diane Bluhm of Waldorf, Harriet Rudd of Rochester, and Neta Oelke of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband in 1998; and one son, Scott Taylor in 1958.

Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 from 4-7 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at 11:00 AM at North Waseca Lutheran Church. Burial will follow at the North Waseca Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials are preferred to North Waseca Lutheran Church or the Waterville Fire Department.
