Marland C. Goettl, age 79 of Janesville, died Monday, September 3, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home, surrounded by his family. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, September 7th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville with Fr. Peter Klein, Celebrant. Interment will be in the St. Ann Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 4 to 8 P.M. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville, and will continue on Friday morning for one hour prior to services. There will be a 7:30 P.M. Knights of Columbus Rosary on Thursday evening at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred. Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory of Janesville is handling arrangements. Marland Clement was born on March 21, 1933 to Clement and Marie "Lilly" (Schwab) Goettl in Mankato, Minnesota. He attended Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic School and Franklin School in Mankato. Marland was raised in rural Mankato and started working for Francis Schwab as a farmhand from 1949 to 1955. On September 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Joyce E. Denn at St. Teresa''s Catholic Church in Mapleton. After their marriage Marland and Joyce lived in rural Mankato. He was employed by the Hubbard Milling Research Farm in Mankato from 1955 to 1960. Marland and Joyce moved to their Janesville Township farm in 1960 where they raised their family. He retired from farming in 1998. Marland was a longtime member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville and was active member of the Knights of Columbus Council # 8184, Catholic Order of Foresters Court #645 and the Catholic United Financial Council #366. He enjoyed time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Joyce Goettl of Janesville; by his children, Kevin (Sharon) Goettl of St. Clair, Dennis (Rosemary) Goettl of Big Lake, Charlie (Jami) Goettl of Mankato, Judy Goettl of Miami, FL, Paul (Terrie) Goettl of Janesville, Mark (Sandie) Goettl of Plymouth, Jerry Goettl of Edmond, OK, Joe (Kathy) Goettl of Cresco, IA, Brenda (Tom) Shively of Edmond, OK, Margaret (Tod) Schiernbeck of Spencer, IA, John Goettl of Minneapolis, Irene (John) Erdman of Mankato, Tom Goettl of St. Louis Park, Matt Goettl of Janesville and Marlene Goettl of St. Peter; by 24 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren; by his brothers, LaVern (Joan) Goettl of Mankato, Francis (Barb) Goettl of Mankato, David (Cora) Goettl of Mesa, AZ, and Adrian (Mary Jo) Goettl of Mankato; by his sister, Louise Haefner of Glencoe; by his sisters-in-law, Mary Liestman of Kasota, Delores Denn and Virginia
