In the early morning hours of December 8, 2009, our Lord and Savior graciously took Marie E. Schostag unto Himself, freeing her from the ravenousness of Alzheimer''s disease. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 13th at St. John''s Evangelical Lutheran Church in St. Clair with Rev. Matthew Grunewald officiating. Interment will be in the St. John''s Ev. Lutheran Cemetery, St. Clair. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville, and will continue on Sunday afternoon for one hour prior to services at church. Memorials preferred to donor''s choice. Marie was born on September 6, 1923 at home in Mankato Township, Blue Earth County, to Frederick and Ida (Frank) Schostag. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John''s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she remained a member until her death. She graduated from St. Clair High School and attended Mankato Commercial College. Marie then worked in Minneapolis during the "war years". Upon returning to Mankato, Marie was employed by a local creamery for several years before her employment with the City of Mankato. Marie remained employed with the City of Mankato until her retirement. Marie, along with her twin sister Marion and their close circle of friends, enjoyed traveling within the states and beyond. Of special enjoyment was the annual week long stay at Gull Lake, celebrating Labor Day. and beyond! She is survived by her nephew and his wife, Jim and InSuk Bollmann; Patty, the wife of Marie''s deceased nephew, Larry Bollmann; by five great-nieces, SoAe Meyer and her husband Rick, and their children Brandon and Courtney; Terry Harrison and her husband Blake, and their daughter Samantha; Michelle Bollmann; Christy Flood and her husband Chris, and their daughter Avalyn; Kimberly Bollmann; by two great-nephews, Dr. WonSik Bollmann and his wife Kelly, and their children Ashley, Justin, Candice and Lindsey; Craig Bollmann and his wife Darcy, and their children Jacob, Garrett and Caden. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her older brother Walt Schostag; by her sister and her husband, Vera and Bill Bollmann; and by her twin sister Marion Schostag. Casketbearers are: Craig Bollmann, Dale Froehlich, Dan Froehlich, Richard Meyer, Brandon Meyer, and Jim Bollmann. Honorary casketbearers are: Gloria Altenburg, Hazel DeMars, LaDonna Boettcher, Mary Jane Rosenberg, Eunice Sassenberg, and Florence Sassenberg.
