Marie Hazel Crandell (Willock), age 86 passed away at Bethesda Grand on April 17, 2020 in Willmar following a very short illness.
Marie was born on August 1, 1933 in Waseca, Minnesota to George and Dorothy (Herley) Willock. She was united in marriage to John Joseph Crandell on March 1, 1952 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in North Mankato. They lived in Minnesota until 1958 when the family moved to California. In 1983, she and her family moved back to Minnesota, living in Slayton and most recently Willmar.
Marie was a leader of a den of Cub Scouts and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Over the years she was known to care for young children of friends and family. She was a social butterfly organizing various parties and gatherings for years, in which friendships were developed and remembered for life. She collected chicken’s, enjoyed watching and listening to the birds, the smell of flowers blooming and gardens growing, especially zucchini. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family, especially Shelby & Paige Schmitz and Blake and Jordan Crandell.
Marie is survived by her children, Frank of Willmar, MN; Sharon (Dudley) Sandland of Mankato, MN; Lori Crandell of Bellflower, CA; Debbie (John) Schmitz of Willmar, MN; Phil (Meghan) Crandell of Burtrum, MN, 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings; Betty (Ervin) Flitter, Patty Holcomb, George (Norma) Willock, Polly (Larry) Schake, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband; sister Georgeda Wilker; brother-in-law Chuck Holcomb; son-in-law Reno Misa; and granddaughter Melissa Kolster Crandell.
