Margaret Marie Sack

MARGARET MARIE (SWEIGER) SACK, peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at the age of almost 103.

She was born on September 28, 1921, in Mankato, to David and Mary Sweiger. On October 24, 1939, she married Art Sack. Margaret farmed alongside Art, first near Mankato, until 1952 when they moved to rural Janesville. They built a home on Art’s family farm. Besides doing farmwork, Margaret also raised laying hens, helped with the hogs, and flower gardens were her real joy. She lived on that homestead until 2006, before moving to an independent apartment in St. Clair. In 2020, she moved to Water’s Edge Assisted Living in Mankato.

Margaret is survived by her children, Mary (Erv) Bade, Ruth (Dick) Back, and Douglas (Stephanie) Sack; 10 grandchildren, many great and great-great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephew’s friends, and extended relatives. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband,11 siblings, and many in-laws and other family and friends.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, June 29, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in St. Clair. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at St. John’s Cemetery in St. Clair. Memorials preferred to St. John’s Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice in Margaret’s name. The family wishes to thank the Water’s Edge facility for the compassionate care given to mom while in their care. Also, thank you to Mayo Hospice Care that kept mom comfortable in her last days.

Mom will be remembered for her reply when asked, “well how are you?” Reply, “just as onry as ever!!”
