MARGARET QUIRAM, age 87 of rural Elysian died on Monday, July 22, 2019 at Benedictine Living Center in St. Peter.
The 2nd of 5 children, Margaret was born on January 10, 1932 on a very cold Sunday morning. She was the daughter of immigrants, William and Mary Mentjes.  At the age of 2, she returned with her parents and sister to Germany.  Her father had to return to the US to his farming, but she and her mother stayed for an additional 2 years.  She left the US speaking English and returned speaking German.  "I had wonderful parents.  I love them, miss them, and respect them yet today." 
Margaret was baptized and confirmed at St. Pauls Lutheran Church in Le Center.  It was also there that she married Noel Quiram.   After her eight children were grown, Margaret worked for the State of MN for 20 years.  She enjoyed singing and sang in the high school Glee Club, the church choir and the Sweet Adelines.  She loved flowers and gardening, acting and watching plays.  Margaret also enjoyed sewing, quilting and embroidery work and made many of her four daughters clothing.  She loved her family and enjoyed attending baptisms, confirmations, weddings, graduations and birthday parties for her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her children,  Darryl (Melissa) of Dresser, WI; Wayne (Yu Ying) of Cleveland; Marilyn Larson of Mankato; Leon (Naomi) of St. Peter; Theresa Heimel of Roberts, WI; Daniel (Jackie) of St. Peter; Julia of Mankato; and Elaine (William) Meyers of Stevensville, MD; nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.  She is also survived by one brother, Ron (Kathy) Mentjes of Le Center; three brothers-in-law, Kenneth (Carol) Quiram of Le Center, Warren Quiram of Elysian, and Roger (Judy) Quiram of Elysian; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-Law, Susan Quiram; grandson Michael Quiram; and three sisters, Esther, Eleanor, and Rosemary.

Memorials are preferred to St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church Sunday School or Choir. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church.  Visitation will be held on Friday, one hour before services at the church.  Burial will follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery.
