Mabel E. Roemhildt, age 94 of Janesville, died Saturday, September 1, 2012 at the Janesville Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 5th at 10:30 A.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Dr. Larry Griffin, officiating. Interment will be in the St. John''s Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Iosco Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 P.M. at Arnoldt- McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Janesville, and will continue on Wednesday morning for one hour prior to services, at church. Mabel Ethel was born on April 12, 1918 to Frank and Johanna (Schroeder) Steinke in Alton Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized on May 12, 1918 and confirmed on March 29, 1931 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Mabel attended Trinity Lutheran Parochial School in Janesville, and graduated from Janesville High School in 1936. On June 5, 1940 she was united in marriage to Lawrence Walter Roemhildt at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. Mabel and Lawrence lived and farmed the first four years of their marriage on the Roemhildt Family Farm northwest of Waseca in Iosco Township. They moved to their Alton Township farm south of Janesville to raise their family. Mabel also helped her husband with their Trojan/Dekalb seed dealership for over 30 years. Mabel and Lawrence moved into Janesville in 1964. She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville and its ladies aid. Mabel enjoyed fishing, dancing, crocheting, making a wide variety of crafts, and was known for her talent of decorating eggs. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her son, Gary (Sandy) Roemhildt of rural Janesville; by her daughter, Sharon (Robert) Freitag of Nicollet; by four grandchildren, Scott (Amy) Roemhildt of rural Janesville, Heidi (Todd) Roemhildt-Kalisch of Lakeville, Jon (Darcy) Roemhildt of rural Janesville and Teresa Freitag of Mankato; by her 6 great grandchildren, Cody Roemhildt, Mitch Kalisch, Reese Kalisch, Morgan Roemhildt, Nora Roemhildt and Jack Roemhildt; by her sister-in- law, Blanche Roemhildt of Waseca; by many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; by her husband Lawrence on August 19, 2001; by her twin sons during infancy; by two sisters and one brother. Casket bearers are: Scott Roemhildt, Heidi Roemhildt-Kalisch, Jon Roemhildt, Teresa Freitag, Cody Roemhildt and Curtis Roemhildt.
