Luella Mae Root

LUELLA MAE ROOT, age 90 of Waseca, died Thursday, February 27, 2025, at Lakeshore Inn and Rehabilitation Center in Waseca. 

Born April 22, 1934, in Waseca, daughter of the late Lawrence and Mabel (Gehring) Cromer. She graduated from Waseca Central High School – Class of 1952. On October 17, 1954, she married Lyle Myrlin Root in Wilton Township, though they were later divorced. Following high school, she briefly worked for Northwestern Bell in Waseca, before working for Brown Printing in Waseca for over 40 years. She enjoyed following the Minnesota Twins and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Waseca VFW Auxiliary, Waseca Senior Center and was a life-long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township where she was confirmed in her faith on May 16, 1948. 

She is survived by her children, Doreen (Bruce) Risto of Pemberton, LuAnn (Harold) Krienke of Janesville, Cathy (Dan) Lang of Springfield, Teri (Steve) Sheeley of St. Cloud; 10 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and sister-in-law, Virginia Cromer. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother, Lyle Cromer.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wilton Township. Visitation will be held for two hours prior to the service at the church. Interment will be held at the Woodville Cemetery in Waseca.
