OBITUARY INFORMATION

LOY DWIGHT SPIES, age 57 of Waseca, died on the morning of Saturday, February 11, 2023 at his home.

Loy was born on September 5, 1965 in Waseca to Lyn and Lois (Sprengeler) Spies. He attended Waseca Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1984. Following his school years Loy began working for the City of Waseca in the Parks Department where he continued his employment until health no longer allowed. Many would recognize him trimming the shrubs along the road at Clear Lake Park every summer. On January 4, 2003, Loy was united in marriage to Sherri Bartz at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Otisco. Together they built a home in Waseca and shared 20 years of marriage. Loy enjoyed bowling, woodworking, and following Twins baseball.

Loy’s family would like to thank and recognize special friends from the neighborhood, Jeremy and Michele Parpart; an instrumental nephew, Brandon Hoopengarner; and many other friends and family who’s help allowed Loy to spend his final days at home.

Loy is survived by his devoted wife of twenty years, Sherri Spies of Waseca; three children, Erin Yenish of Waseca, Jeremiah (Stephanie) Yenish of Lady Smith, WI, and Alex (Devin) Yenish of Waseca; twelve grandchildren, Aliyah, Gabee, Grayden, Ayovi, Yoselin, Ethan, Josiah, Olivia, Jaxon, Jaya, Axel, and Esme; one great-granddaughter, Spring; parents, Lyn and Lois Spies of Waseca; one brother, Lane (Jodi) Spies of Waseca; two sisters-in-law, Tricia Bartz (Lonnie Irwin) of Freeborn, and Gina Crumb of Portland, OR; and many nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
