Lowell Aloysius Denn

LOWELL ALOYSIUS DENN, age 97 of Waseca died on Wednesday, July 26, 2023 at Mayo Clinic Health Systems in Waseca.

Born on October 1, 1925 in Mankato, Minnesota, he was the son of Aloysius and Esther (Koch) Denn.  He attended rural country school.  On June 12, 1947, Lowell was united in marriage to Helen Britton at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.  Following their marriage, they lived and farmed in Alton Township and later St. Mary Township before moving their family to Freedom Township in 1955.  Lowell was a dedicated, life-long farmer; he farmed with his father and later worked for Birds Eye.  When his health forced him to retire in 1996 from Birds Eye, he continued to help area farmers.   He loved spending time with his grandchildren and hosting nieces and nephews on the farm.   He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.

Lowell is survived by his children, Deborah (Kevin Malterer) Denn of Waseca, David (Barb) Denn of Waseca, and Philip (Lisa) Denn of Port Orange, FL; daughter-in-law, Leann Denn of Battleground, WA; 7 grandchildren, Amanda Denn, Matthew Denn, Chanda (Chris) Tanaka, Aimee Sibilrud, Adam (Amber) Denn, Lynn Denn, and Stephanie (Kyle) Lussow; and 15 great grandchildren, Georgia, Stella, James, Corbin, Carlee, Carson, Milee, Brennyn, Ethan, Kinsley, Meghan, Trentin, Makayla, Gregory, and Dominic.   He is also survived by two brothers, Marlyn Denn and Albert Denn both of Waseca.   He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Linda in infancy; son, Peter; sisters, Marilyn (Dwain) Nelson and Edna Mae (Don) Kalbow; and sisters-in-law, Mary Lou Denn and Vernice Denn.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 3, 2023 from 5-7 PM with a 6:45 PM parish prayer service at the State Street Chapel of Dennis Steffel Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service in Waseca.  

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, August 4, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca.   Burial will follow at St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville.
