Lorraine Lyons

LORRAINE LOUISE LYONS, age 80, of Waterville died on Monday, January 24, 2022 at Whispering Creek in Janesville.

Born on November 4, 1941, in Waseca to Herman and Esther (Gehrke) Berndt. She attended Waterville High School, graduating with the class of 1960. On November 24, 1962, Lorraine was united in marriage to John Lyons at St. Peter “Bell” Lutheran Church in Elysian and together they made their home in Waterville while raising their two children. Lorraine and John shared 32 years of marriage before John passed away on January 2, 1995.

Lorraine worked throughout her life at E.F. Johnson Company and Itron in Waseca. In her early years, she enjoyed bowling and camping with family. She was a collector of Red Wing and Bob White dishes. In her later years she cherished spending time with her children and following her grandchildren’s sporting events. Lorraine was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville.

Lorraine is survived by her children: Julie (Henry) Van Houdt of Waterville and Paula (Dan) Simon of Owatonna; grandchildren: Cory, Jason, and Matthew Van Houdt; siblings: Gladys (Stan) Merritt of Morristown, Delores (Leonard) Wolf of St. Peter, Lucy (Donald) Roemhildt of Eagan and Ron (Nancy) Berndt of Waterville; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; grandson, Travis Van Houdt; brothers: Edward, Harold, Norman, and Lorenz Berndt (Twin to Lorraine).

Funeral Service will be 11:00 AM on Friday, January 28, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville with Rev. David Mumme officiating. Interment will be in Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville. Visitation will be for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
