Lorraine Irene Brase

LORRAINE IRENE BRASE, age 85, of Waseca passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023 at her home with family gathered at her side.

Born on September 12, 1938 in Waseca, Lorraine was the daughter of Vernie and Anna (Mundt) Anderson. She was raised on a farm in Waseca County with her three sisters. She attended District 24 for grade school and Central High School. She worked at Stucky’s Drug Store during high school. She worked at Herter’s for many years until they closed. She also worked at Walter’s Cookbook’s, EF Johnson Company, and Fitzsimmons Trucking doing accounting. On May 4, 1957, she was united in marriage to Duane Brase at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Meridan.

Lorraine enjoyed growing and arranging flowers, sewing quilts, being a part of her card club for 50 years, and was famous for her homemade jam. When she retired, she and Duane enjoyed RVing and being with their grandchildren. She was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca where she was part of the Cotta Guild and choir.

She is survived by her husband, Duane Brase of Waseca; children, Nancy (David) Schneider of Waseca, Darla (Butch) Manke of Milaca, Michael Brase of Rockport, WA, Todd Brase of Waseca, Brian Brase of Waseca, James (Jodi Possin) Brase of Waseca; twelve grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Russell Brase of Good Thunder, sisters-in-law, Janet Donovan of Wells, Beverly Hawes of Texas, Susan (Kenneth) Buchert of Mankato, Linda (Steven) Koester of Tennessee.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Vernie and Anna Anderson; siblings, Eleanor Willert, Janice Shifflett, and Marlys Coleman.

Visitation for Lorraine will be from 3 – 6 PM on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at the Third Street Chapel of Dennis-Steffel-Omtvedt Funeral and Cremation Service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church.

Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 8, 2023 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Interment will follow at Woodville Cemetery.
