MABLE I. LONG , age 92 of Waseca, died on Thursday, April 4, 2013 at the Lakeshore Inn in Waseca.

Born in Smith’s Mill, Minnesota on April 18, 1920, Mable was the daughter of Harley N. and Amy E. (Vandarwarke) Long.  As a young woman she attended school in Smith’s Mill and graduated from Waseca Central High School.  In 1951 Mable began working at Federated Insurance Company in Owatonna.  She continued her employment there, working as a claims auditor, until her retirement.  She was a long-time member of Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, where she had been a Sunday school teacher, the Sunday school secretary, and sang for many years in the choir.  She had also taken part in the Women’s Society of Christian Service, the women’s circle, and the Philathea Class for Christian Women.  She enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, and spending time in her garden.

Mable is survived by one brother Bruce (Joyce) Long of Waterville; and one sister, Ruth Wickmann of Fort Collins, Colorado.  She was preceded in death by her parents; and three sisters, Helen Mollenhauer, Alice Wilson and Hazel Suemnick.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 12, 2013 at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca, with Rev. Victor Waters officiating.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.  Private family interment will take place at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Elysian.  Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca is handling arrangements.
