Lois Krienke, age 91, of Janesville, died peacefully on Wednesday morning, May 15, 2019, at the Janesville Nursing Home.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 AM on Monday, May 20, at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freedom Township, Waseca County. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-5 PM on Sunday, May 19, at Starkson & Steffel Funeral & Cremation Service ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville. Visitation will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Lois Irene Krienke was born on December 14, 1927, in Freedom Township, Waseca County to Jay and Geneva (Hill) Dane. She was baptized on June 9, 1929 at Pemberton Congregational Church and later confirmed in her faith on March 24, 1954 at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church. She attended Pemberton High School, graduating with the class of 1946. Lois continued her education at Mankato State Teachers College graduating in 1948. While teaching she went on to receive her Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education at Mankato State College in 1961. She received her 5th year certificate from Mankato State University in 1982.
On September 19, 1953, Lois was united in marriage to Erwin Krienke at the Congregational Church in Pemberton. Together they raised two children on the family farm. They shared 63 years of marriage before Erwin passed away on January 2, 2017. Lois was a 1st grade teacher her entire career, starting in 1960 at Pemberton Schools.
Lois was a faithful member of Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Freedom Township where she was active as a Sunday School and Bible School Teacher, sang in the choir, and was a member of the church quilting circle and ladies guild. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, gardening, canning and especially making dill pickles with her granddaughters.
Lois is survived by her children: Gloria (Dave) Steffenson of Owatonna and Harold (LuAnn) Krienke of rural Janesville; grandchildren: Amy (Brian) Schisler, Laura (Erik) Doerr, Branden Krienke, JoAnna (Mike) Bequette, and Brian Krienke; great grandchildren: Amelia and Liam Schisler and Bales, Jaci and Raider Bequette; sister-in-law: Karen Dane; other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Charles Dane.
