Linden E. Vail
LINDEN EDWARD VAIL, age 92, died at his home in Waterville on Thursday, July 18, 2019.
Born in Cordova, Minnesota on January 19, 1927, Linden was the son of Edward and Jessie (McMillen) Vail. As a young man he attended Waterville Public Schools. Linden married Eunice Engebretson at the North Waseca Lutheran Church on July 30, 1949. Over the years Linden drove livestock for Sheehy Trucking, operated his own business, Vail Trucking until 1965, worked for Minnesota Valley Gas of Mankato from 1965 until 1970, and finally drove for Schneider Transportation of Green Bay for 21 years until his retirement in 1991. Linden was proud to have won safe driving awards each year. He enjoyed fishing, caring for his lawn, driving, exercising, visiting with friends and family, and helping others whenever he could. As a long-time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville he served as an usher, treasurer, elder, and trustee. He was also a member of the Waterville Lions Club, volunteered for Meals on Wheels, and had served on the Sakatah Cemetery Board for 36 years. He took great pride in having a beautiful cemetery and he donated many hours to its upkeep.
Linden is survived by his wife, Eunice of Waterville; one son and his wife, Dr. Lyle Vail (Dr. Anne Hoggett) of Lizard Island, Queensland, Australia; one daughter, Valerie Vail of Waterville; one grandson, Dr. Alexander Vail of Australia; sisters-in-law, Elda Vail of Ramona, CA, and Ramona Wilkening of Janesville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gwen and Robert Johnson of Waseca; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Bradley John Vail; a brother, Neil Vail; and two sisters, Bernice Sheehy and Ruth Reed.
Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, July 26, 2019 at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Waterville, with Rev. David Mumme officiating. Interment will follow at Sakatah Cemetery in Waterville.
