Linda Kunkel April 1, 1954 - April 20, 2010
Linda M. Kunkel, age 56 of Waseca, died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010 at Homestead Hospice House in Owatonna. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, April 24th at 11:00 am at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Roger Haug, officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Community Cemetery in St. Charles, Minnesota The Kunkel Family will greet friends on Saturday morning from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. at Grace Lutheran Church. McRaith Funeral Home and Crematory of Waseca is handling arrangements. Linda Marie was born April 1, 1954 at the Swedish Hospital in Minneapolis to Fred and Ruby (House) Nelson. She grew up in Richfield, and in 1962 the family moved to St. Peter. Linda graduated from St. Peter High School in 1972, and went on to attend Willmar Vocational School where she studied photography. She then moved to Mankato and on October 4, 1975 she was united in marriage to Derek Kunkel at Trinity Lutheran Church in St. Peter. In 1976 Linda and Derek moved to Waseca. She retired from Brown Printing Co. after 27 years of service. Following her retirement she worked for the Owatonna School District for 6 years until her illness. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca she volunteered her time selling script and working with youth ministry trips. Linda was a member of Waseca and Owatonna Quilters Guild. She was especially passionate about quilting, making thousands of quilts for family and friends. Linda loved the outdoors, fishing, and gardening. She loved time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her mother Ruby Nelson Rohloff of LeSueur; by her children Lisa Kunkel (Matt Harris) of Owatonna, Brad Kunkel (Doah Wadekamper) of Waseca, Michael Kunkel (Amber Proechel) of Waseca, Holly Kunkel (Matt Peterson) of Litchfield; by her grandchildren Kallop Kunkel of Waseca, Jaya Kunkel of Waseca, and Abriana Harris of Owatonna; by her sister Barb Nelson of Mankato, and her brother Ken Nelson of Lincoln, NE. She was preceded in death by her father, Eden Fred Nelson, her sister Jeanne Louise Nelson; by her grandparents.
