Leta Clemons
LETA MAE CLEMONS, age 89 of Waseca died on Friday, April 8, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato.
Born on February 26, 1927 in Waseca County, Minnesota, she was the daughter of Enoch and Irene (ORiley) Root. She attended school in Waseca County before graduating from Waseca High School in 1944. Leta married Lawrence Clemons on October 3, 1949 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. She worked as a homemaker and was an international porcelain artist. She enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing, playing cards with her family and playing bridge with friends. Leta also enjoyed world-wide travel. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and the church circle.
Leta is survived by nine children, Deb (Terry) Roemhildt of Waseca, Susan Clemons of Mesa, AZ, Jane Clemons of Waseca, Carol (Jim) Hanson of Elk River, Kevin (Keri) Clemons of Waseca, Paul (Julie) Clemons of Lakeville, John (Mary) Clemons of Waseca, Gale Clemons (Jim Peterson) of Columbia Heights, and Ellen (Cliff) Canavin of Mankato; 25 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings, Leona Wenzel, Lester (Minnie) Root, Leland (JoAnn) Root, Lowell Root, and Lyle (Sharon) Root all of Waseca. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence on March 22, 2016; son, Lee; two grandchildren; and one brother, Lyndel Root. A private family memorial service will be held. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
