Leroy Madigan June 22, 1947 - August 5, 2009
LeRoy William "Bill" Madigan Jr, age 62 of Janesville, died on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at his home, with his family at his side. Memorial graveside services will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. at the Janesville Cemetery with Rev. Bescye P. Burnett officiating. Military Honors will be provided by the Waseca V.F.W. Sweet-Sommers Post #1642 and Waseca American Legion Post #228. The Madigan Family will greet friends from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 8, at Arnoldt-McRaith Funeral Home in Janesville. LeRoy William "Bill" was born on June 22, 1947 in Waseca, Minnesota to LeRoy William Sr. and Frances (Dahnert) Madigan. LeRoy graduated from Waseca High School in 1965. On April 28, 1965 Bill enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. and served his Country during the Vietnam War. He was highly decorated, including being the recipient of the Purple Heart Medal, and was honorably discharged on April 22, 1969. On December 4, 1971 Bill was united in marriage to Shirley Jane Black at Faith United Methodist Church in Waseca. Bill and Shirley lived for a short time in Waseca before moving to Janesville in 1976. He was employed at Brown Printing of Waseca for 22 years and National Computer Systems of Owatonna for 4 years until his retirement in 2000. Bill was a life member of Waseca V.F.W. Sweet-Sommers Post #1642 and the Disabled American Veterans of New Ulm. He was also a member of the Military Order Purple Heart of Sleepy Eye, American Legion Post #228 and Janesville United Methodist Church. Bill loved life and treasured time spent with his family and friends; he especially enjoyed the short time he had with his granddaughter Ella who always put a smile on his face. He is survived by his wife Shirley of Janesville; by his son Jeffrey Madigan of Seattle,WA; by his daughter Sara (Brad) Madigan Fritz of San Francisco CA; by his granddaughter Ella Rose Fritz of San Francisco CA; by his brother Frank "Terry" (Pam) Madigan of Seattle WA; by his three sisters, Diane Nelson of Waseca, Carol (Montie) Loney of Highlands Ranch, CO. and Joanne (Dave) Egeness of Waseca; by his brother-in-law Terry Johnson of New Ulm; by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and by his sister Sharon Johnson.
