LeAnn K. Marzinske, age 82, of rural Janesville, died peacefully on Sunday, January 21, 2024, at her home.
Born on December 7, 1941, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin, she was the daughter of Leo and Frances Sonntag. LeAnn was baptized on December 21, 1941 and confirmed in her faith in April of 1955, both at St. John Lutheran Church in Two Rivers. She attended Dr. Martin Luther High School and furthered her education at Dr. Martin Luther College both in New Ulm. Following her education she received her first call to St. John Lutheran Church in Alma City teaching all 8 grades. It was while teaching in Alma City she met her future husband, Robert Marzinske and they were united in marriage on June 7, 1964 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Two Rivers.
LeAnn lived out her life's calling as a teacher. She taught for a short time in Nicollet before taking a break to raise her family. LeAnn later began working as an interpreter/tutor at Waldorf-Pemberton which later became Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton, touching the lives of many of her students. She finished her formal career as a paraprofessional at Dakota Meadows in Mankato. LeAnn continued to teach as a volunteer for many years at Risen Savior Lutheran School as a teachers aide. She was an active member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City where she taught Sunday School, was a member of ladies aide, and directed the church choir and played the organ for many years. LeAnn is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob Marzinske; children: Wendy (Steve) Hughes of Kronenwetter, WI, Michael (Naomi) of South St. Paul, and Todd (Darci) of Courtland; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; brothers: Robert (Darla) of Wisconsin, Richard (Dorothy) of Tennessee, and Lyle (Lois) of Arizona; sister-in-law, Valley Marzinske of Waldorf; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Marlys and Vernon Roemhildt, Louis and Norma Marzinske, and David Marzinske.
Funeral service will be 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 24, 2024, at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church in Alma City. Interment will follow in the Alma City Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 AM and continue until the time of the service at the church on Wednesday.
