Lawrence 'Larry' Chappuis June 30, 1947 - August 12, 2015
Lawrence "Larry" Chappuis, age 68, of Faribault, MN, died unexpectedly Wednesday, August 12, 2015, in Minneapolis.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, August 17, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, with Fr. Victor Valencia, pastor, officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Rice County Central Veterans Association. Interment will be held at a later date at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.
Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. and on Monday for one hour prior to the services at the church.
Lawrence Edward was born on June 30, 1947 in Faribault to George "Poopsie" and Madeline "Bunny" (Forcelle) Chappuis. He graduated from Bethlehem Academy with the class of 1966. Larry served four years in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He married Nancy Von Ruden on September 29, 1973 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. For 39 years, Larry worked as a Master Plumber in Rochester, MN, most recently with Harris Mechanical. He enjoyed playing cards and golf, watching John Wayne movies, and watching his children and grandchildren''s sporting events. He was a member of the Faribault American Legion Post 43.
Larry is survived by his wife of 42 years, Nancy Chappuis of Faribault; children, Camie (Todd) Wetzel of Faribault, Chris (Meghan) Chappuis of Savage, MN, and Matt (Jennifer) Chappuis of Rosemount, MN; nine grandchildren, Jenna and Jacob Wetzel, Sadie, Madeline, and William Chappuis, and Hattie, Harper, Hildey, and Holdyn Chappuis; brothers, Harry Chappuis (special friend, Patty Olson) of Faribault, Ken (Mary) Chappuis of West Lynn, OR, and George (Jodie) Chappuis of Faribault; sister-in-law, Mary Chappuis of Rochester; in-laws, Hank (Kay) Von Ruden of Faribault, Jerry Von Ruden of Grand Rapids, MN, Pat Gretz of Lakeville, Caroline (Ray) Sammon of Faribault, Marcella Von Ruden of Faribault, Bill (Cathy) Von Ruden of Faribault, Terri (Dennis) Brady of Medford, MN, and Kathy (Arnie) Johnson of Medford; many wonderful nieces and nephews, and the
second family that is so important, "The Boys of Summer" softball team.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George (Poopsie) and Madeline (Bunny); brother, Robert Chappuis; sister-in-law, Gretchen Chappuis; niece, Monique Marie Chappuis; and parents-in-law, Lawrence and Hildegard Von Ruden.
