Lawrence C. Tonn
LAWRENCE CHARLES TONN, age 82 of Waterville died on Monday, February 9, 2015 at Traditions of Waterville after a battle with cancer.
Born on February 4, 1933 at the family home in Bristol, Connecticut, Lawrence was the son of Frederick and Elsie (Behrendt) Tonn. Lawrence graduated from Bristol High School and then the University of Connecticut. To obtain college credit, Lawrence came to Minnesota to complete a "farm job" working for Herman Lorenz. Lawrence served in the U.S. Army starting out in Company C in Fort Dix, New Jersey and was stationed in Puerto Rico. On July 1, 1956, Lawrence was united in marriage to Darlene Lorenz at St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County. The marriage was blessed with four children. Lawrence was a dairy farmer until August 1, 1995 and cropped thereafter until he couldnt get on the tractor. Lawrence enjoyed traveling, gardening, military history, grandkids and great grandkids. Lawrence was a long standing member of St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church.
He is survived by his children, Dave (Tina) Tonn of Waterville, Dan (Brenda) Tonn of Elysian, and Carol (John) Geier of Prior Lake; six grandchildren, Patricia (Matt) Kolling, Jessica (Chris) Kennedy, Phillip (Karissa) Tonn, Leslie Tonn, Megan Tonn, and Nicole Tonn; and eight great grandchildren, Addyson Kennedy, Hunter Tonn, Mason Kolling, Griffin Tonn, Charlotte Kennedy, Maddox Kolling, Peyton Kolling and Evelyn Kennedy. He is also survived by one brother, Herb (Arlene) Tonn and one sister, Louise (Brian) Winter all of Bristol, CT. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sister and brother-in-law, Ellie and Ed Maron; son, Jerome; and grandson, Nicholas Tonn.
Visitation will be held at Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services in Waterville on Thursday, February 12, 2015 from 4-8 PM and continue on Friday, one hour before services at the church.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 13, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Peters "Bell" Lutheran Church in Le Sueur County with Rev. Russ Grabau officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peters Lutheran Cemetery.
