Lavern Walter Erdman

LAVERN WALTER ERDMAN, age 91 of Janesville, died on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 at the New Richland Care Center.

Born on January 19, 1930, LaVern was the son of Reinhold and Clara (Rosenthal) Erdman. He attended Trinity Lutheran School. On September 25, 1956 LaVern was united in marriage to Arleen Mae Dezell at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, Minnesota. He and Arleen raised their family and farmed in Alton Township, Waseca County. LaVern was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville. After he retired from farming he delivered the Mankato Free Press. LaVern enjoyed watching professional wrestling and attending his grandchildren’s various school activities.

LaVern is survived by his three children, Lori (Spider) Larson of Waseca, Kris Haugen of Eagle Lake, Randy Erdman of Dell Rapids, South Dakota; five grandchildren, Josh Erdman, April (Josh) Long, Ashley Erdman, Nicole and Brandon Larson; and by one great- grandchild, Estella Long. He was preceded in death by his wife, Arleen; his parents; his brothers Elmer and Arthur Erdman; his sister Doris Guse; and other extended family.

Visitation will be held from 4-7PM on Friday, November 5, 2021 at the Janesville Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Saturday.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30AM on Saturday, November 6, 2021 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, with Rev. Brian Johnston officiating. Interment will follow at Iosco Cemetery.
