Larry J. Bennett December 26, 1940 - March 6, 2013
Larry J. Bennett, age 72 of Waseca, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the Mayo Health System-Waseca.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 11th at 1:00 P.M. at McRaith Funeral Home & Crematory in Waseca, with Rev. Roger W. Haug, officiating. Military honors will be given immediately following the services, at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Albert Lea.
Visitation will be held Monday morning at McRaith Funeral Home from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.
Larry was born December 26, 1940 in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Boyd and Hazel (Ingamells) Bennett. Larry attended Albert Lea High School. He served his country as a soldier in the United States Army, and later as a member of the Army National Guard. Larry was united in marriage to Twyla Oldfather on May 7, 1961 in Kiester, Minnesota. Larry and Twyla resided in Albert Lea for 9 years. From 1970 to 1989 they lived in New Richland, and for the last 23 years have resided in Waseca. Larry enjoyed his profession as a painter and carpenter, and was an avid fisherman.
He is survived by his wife, Twyla of Waseca; children, Larry (Teresa) Bennett of Waseca, Tammy Bennett (special friend Doug Gathje) of Oronoco, and Charles Bennett of Litchfield; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; by his mother, Hazel Bennett, and sister, Sandra (David) Raabolle, both of Kilkenny; brothers-in-law, Roger Oldfather, and Warren (Rosemary) Oldfather, all of Kiester; sister-in-law, Barbara Bennett of Mankato.
He was preceded in death by his father, Boyd; by his brother, James W. Bennett.
Casketbearers are: Jacob Bennett, Lee Kelly, Jeff Olson, Nathan Carroll, and James Carroll.
