Kialyn "Ky" Terry Quillen

KIALYN “KY” TERRY QUILLEN, age 21 of Waseca, died on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 21, 2024 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester following many years of health struggles.

Ky was born in Mesa, AZ to mother Natalie K. Quillen and father Charles J. Johnson. He attended school in Waseca where he made many good friends. He was baptized, confirmed, and very involved with the youth missions program at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca. Before his health limited his ability to work, he had been employed at the Holiday Inn Waterpark in Clinton Falls, Pizza Ranch in Waseca, the Starfire Event Center in Waseca, a special daycare in Waseca, and also Lenz Bus Company in Waseca. He loved singing, specifically Demi Lovato’s music, whom he also had an opportunity to meet through the Make-A-Wish Foundation. He also enjoyed swimming, campfires and spending time with friends and family, and loving on the family dogs, Teddy and Kaycee.

Following his death, Ky’s family was able to continue his generous legacy by donating several types of bodily tissue for ongoing and future research, and for use by others in need. They know without doubt that Ky would be so happy he could extend his love beyond his lifetime.

Ky is survived by his mother, Natalie Quillen; his father, Charles Johnson; siblings Koltyn Quillen, Nalyce Quillen, TaShaun Johnson, Charlene Johnson, Khadija Johnson, NaTaya Johnson, Charles Johnson, Mykiah Johnson, Charlyze Johnson, and Cyrus Johnson; grandmother Karil Berndt; aunts and uncles, (Godmother) Nicole Perkins, Emilie (Yolanda) Perkins, (Godfather) Joshua Quillen and his children Kayedence and Kyah Quillen, Diane Johnson-Miskel, Emma Williams, Zeola Johnson, Jesse Johnson, Terry Williams, and James Johnson; as well as many cousins and other beloved family. 

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents Darold and Bethel Perkins; Grandparents Zealo Johnson and Jesse Williams, Grandpa Marvin Berndt; aunts and uncles George Williams, Yvonne Willims, (Godmother) Queen Johnson, Flip Johnson, Terry Biehn, Karl “Chuck” Perkins, and Christine and Edward Eustice; and cousins Dalton Smith, Logan Biehn, Apollo Perkins, and Baby Boy Biehn.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Waseca, with Rev. Michael Grannis officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service at the church. A private family interment will take place at the Otisco Cemetery at a later date.
