Kathryn E. 'Kay' Von Ruden November 15, 1940 - December 28, 2015

Kathryn E. "Kay" Von Ruden, age 75 of Faribault, passed away on Monday, December 28, 2015 at her home surrounded by her family.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of St. Patrick in Shieldsville, MN. Interment will be held at the St. Lawrence Cemetery in Faribault.

Visitation will be held at the Parker Kohl Funeral Home & Crematory of Faribault on Friday from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday for one hour prior to services.

In lieu of flowers the family prefers that memorials be directed to St. Patrick''s Church Choir or to the District One Cancer Center in memory of Kay.

Kathryn Eleanor, the daughter of Roland and Gladys (Van Houdt) Hoban, was born on November 15, 1940 in Faribault. She attended Faribault High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. Following high school Kay attended the Mankato State Beauty School. On November 26, 1960 she was united in marriage to Henry Von Ruden at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Kay had the deepest love for her family and expressed her love by making their home a place filled with warmth and charm. She enjoyed the fine art of homemaking and was always making yummy desserts for the family, and designing the lovely gardens she and husband Hank created around their home near Roberds Lake. She especially loved her flowers and will be remembered affectionately for working endlessly in her gardens on summer evenings. Outside of the home Kay was well known for her contagious laughter and keeping company with her lifelong lady friends of card club, as well as her loyal and talented friends of the St. Patrick''s Church Choir. She truly loved to sing the music from the 40''s and 50''s and being part of the choir brought her immense joy.

Kay is survived by her husband of 55 years, Henry Von Ruden of Faribault, by her four children, Lisa (John) Favro of Faribault, Pauline Von Ruden of Chaska, MN, Henry (Nikki)

Von Ruden of Kennesaw, GA and Thomas Von Ruden of Prior Lake, MN; by seven grandchildren, Kelly (Sean) Callister, Katie Favro, Alexandra Von Ruden, Samantha Engelby, Nathaniel Engelby, Henry T. Von Ruden and Hunter Von Ruden; by her great grandson, Keegan Callister; by step grandchildren, Logan Wiggins and Madison (David) Rossi; by her sisters, Theresa (John) Miller of Faribault and Michele Koester of Nerstrand, MN and by nieces, nephews and other relatives and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, by her sister, Patricia Duchene and by her niece, Melissa Miller.
