KATHLEEN “KATHY” MARY SPLETT, age 75 of Waseca, passed away at Maple Terrace in Waseca on the morning of April 2, 2022.
Born in Waseca on February 23, 1947, Kathy was the daughter of Marion “Slim” and Adeline “Bubbles” (Kuehnel) Cunningham. She was both baptized and confirmed at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, and she graduated from Waseca Central High School with the class of 1965. On January 8, 1966, Kathy was married to Steven Splett at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca. They built their life together in Waseca and had two daughters. In 1975 she began working for the E.F. Johnson company in Waseca and remained in that role for over twenty years. She later spent time working for several other community businesses before retiring. She was a former member of the Waseca Eagle’s Club, the Waseca American Legion Auxiliary, and a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She enjoyed reading, walking, gardening at her former home, and spending as much time with her grandkids and great-grandkids as she could.
Kathy is survived by both of her daughters, Joette (Jerry) Gleason of Waseca and Cindy Johnson (Brad Milbrath) of Waseca; two siblings, Sue (Gary) Hanson of Waseca and Steve (Heidi) Cunningham of Sedona, AZ; her grandchildren, Jennifer Gleason, Brandon Gleason, Kimberly (Dex) Boje, Kirsten (Jake) Sopkowiak, and Lucas Johnson all of Waseca; and her great-grandchildren, Haylie Bartelt, Piper Stanke, Eli Sopkowiak, and baby Sopkowiak due in August, all of Waseca. She was preceded in death by both of her parents, Marion and Adeline Cunningham; her husband, Steve Splett; and one grandson, Jacob Gleason.
Kathy’s family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses and especially Mayo Hospice for the wonderful care she received.
Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 at the State Street Chapel of Dennis Funeral & Cremation Services, and will continue for one hour before the service at the church on Thursday.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 7, 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca, with Father Thế Hoàng officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
