Karla Kay Decker 69 year old resident of Waseca died Tuesday evening, October 31, 2017 at her home in Waseca.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 10, 2017 at Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ McRaith Chapel of Waseca with Fr. Gregory Leif officiating. Following the service there will be a gathering of family and friends at the Sweet Sommers VFW Post 1642 in Waseca from Noon until 2:00 PM.

Karla Kay Decker was born on January 31, 1948, in Tama, Iowa to Carl and Thelma (Aldrich) Jacobsen. She was baptized on February 22, 1948 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama, Iowa. Karla attended Tama High School and graduated with the class of 1966. On August 9, 1969, she was united in marriage to Milo "Papa Chip" Decker in Galena, Illinois, and later renewing their wedding vows on their 30th Anniversary at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca. They shared 37 years of marriage before Milo passed away on December 28, 2006.
Together they lived in Waterloo, Iowa until bringing their family to Waseca in 1979, where they opened "Papa Chips" restaurant. She worked for the United States Postal Service for many years as well as working along side her husband at their restaurant.
Karla enjoyed a good time and always looked forward to spending time with her sons, traveling to various places throughout the United States. Karla most recently enjoyed the time she spent with her son Destry at the KISS Concert in Mankato. She was a private person but always enjoyed her weekly night out with her sons. She also loved fishing and taking care of her cats and any stray cats that would come around. Her family and friends will remember her for her quick wit, spunky and meticulous personality. She will be dearly missed.
Karla is survived by her twin sons, Destry and Damien of Waseca; daughter Jodi Lynn (Doyle) Kramer of Aplinton, IA; grandchildren: Shakira, Shayler, Shason and Raylynn; brother-in-law, Chuck Decker of Glen Allen, VA; sister-in-law: Gloria Priem of Garnavillo, IA and Judy Waddell of Cedar Falls, IA; nieces and nephews other relatives and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and her three brothers.
